  • instagram.com/p/BWpFB22lMzV RIP GeorgeRomero. In 2008 I took part in the Night of the Living Dead Reanimated project, which was a remake of the Romero classic and one of the first crowdfunded projects that utilized hundreds of illustrators to recreate a movie. I did four sequences. It's the only imdb credit that I have.

  • instagram.com/p/BVKkJniljxx #RIPAdamWest *Doodle I made back in 2004. It's hard to comprehend these days that (pre-Tim Burton's 1989 Batman) the '66 series (watched religiously on endless afterschool reruns in '80s Melbourne) was deemed proper superhero live-action and not the camp laughathon that it's considered today. What memories! 🦇 #batman #adamwest #burtward #holypopcorn #dothebatusi

  • instagram.com/p/BH9TV1bDh3 Poster I designed for the International Federation of Red Cross to advise young refugees in Greece to avoid the summer heatwave. The illustrations had to be as simple as possible, so I had to alter my 'style' to communicate quickly and effectively. I made eight variants in different languages (Arabic, Kurmanji, Sorani etc). This one is in Farsi. Feels good to help the refugee crisis in some kind of practical way through my art.

  • Harry Potter illustration I did right after watching the last film this summer... Strangely enough, even though I saw all the films right when they were released, I never felt the need to draw any of the characters... But then the "Deathly Hallows Part 2" was released and I suppose I dug the saga's conclusion and kinda thought that I'd never feel motivated enough to draw any of the characters in the future (so I sat my ass down for a day during an Athenian heatwave this summer and drew a whole bunch of them--- which I might upload at some point)! *You can see a better resolution version of this piece@ http://mataiodoxia.deviantart.com/#/d4fnwwq

  • You wanted the Best, You've got the Best! The Hottest Band in the World, KISS ! Throughout whatever phase I might have gone through, KISS have strangely enough been the sole standard band that I have worshipped for years on end. To the eyes of the wide public, their antics seem to overpower their music, but I was first and foremost a fan of their early 70s records and have always tried to downplay their alteregos and merchandising. Having said that, I have to also admit that ironically I consider them the most iconic band ever. They took the piss poor quality of Alice Cooper's stage show, the New York Dolls bi-something antics (and music) and pissed all over David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust era.. ..and the music.. oh man, what can you say about the music.. the first six records are just gems.. plus, they were possibly one of a handful of groups(including The Beatles and The Band) in which all members wrote music and also sang their own tunes. For my own band, autodivine www.myspace.com/autodivine I've created a concept album which visually touches upon KISS more than what is considered the most obvious influence, Bowie. Having said all the above, I'll now get to the point of this deviation. I've decided to do portraits of all the KISS members in (what I consider) their best outfits. This one depicts Peter Criss, KISS' original drummer, in his Dynasty era costume (1978-9), whose alterego was The Catman. Criss had a street gang, 50s and 60s Brooklyn real violent type of backround (that's why he chose the cat persona-- nine lives ! ) , but strangely enough he loved big band music and old time swing. While in KISS (from 1973-1980) he got involved heavily with drugs and alcohol and eventually quit the band in their heyday to live with his family (although it is said that he essentially got fired). He was replaced by Eric Carr. Peter Criss rejoined KISS in 1997 for their reunion tour (where they reused their makeup and antics for the first time since 1982) and, together with Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and Ace Frehley, toured the whole world for three years. I actually got to see the original line up perform live in makeup et al in Melbourne, Australia in February 1997.. and, well, I basically bowed before them for 2 hours-- me and the other 35.000 fans that attended every night (they played three sold out nights in a row)... He eventually quit the band again after percentage disagreements and his makeup these days is (disgracefully and for merchandising reasons) worn by Eric Singer (KISS' early 90s drummer). Recommended tracks from the KISSography in which Peter Criss sings: "Beth" from their 1975 album 'Destroyer' "Black Diamond" from their 1973 debut album "KISS" This piece was done withan Edding 2.0 marker and a Pentel cartridge brush. The zip-a-tones, scanned from my own collection, were appled via Photoshop 7.0
